Grow your business with an Apprenticeship
The South West Apprenticeship Company (SWAC) brings a fresh approach to Apprenticeships
SWAC offers a new, alternative way for an organisation to take on an apprentice. Through the SWAC model the organisation does not directly employ the apprentice, instead SWAC employs the apprentice, and the organisation becomes the 'host' employer.
How much will it cost?
There are no up-front costs for this new service and the training costs for many Apprenticeships are covered by government funding. In most cases you'll have to pay a fortnightly amount by direct debit which covers your apprentice's wages and a small fee to cover SWAC's admin costs.
Your steps to becoming a 'Host Organisation'
- Face to Face meeting – We'll arrange to meet with you at your business premises. Our Employer Account Manager (EAM) will find out your needs and advise you on anything else you want to know about Apprenticeships and the SWAC service.
- Finding you suitable candidates – You define the role and the wage, we'll put together a job description for your Apprenticeship vacancy and match potential candidates for you from our large 'bank' of talented individuals.
- Choosing your apprentice – We screen all applicants, conduct assessments to measure potential, and match them to your business needs. We then provide you with a shortlist of suitable candidates to interview and choose from – it's always your choice.
- Finding a training provider for your apprentice – We'll do all the work to find the right training provider for your apprentice and manage all aspects of government funded training.
- Getting things started – Once you've decided on your candidate we'll assist with the apprentice induction and you'll get access to our advice and support for the full duration of their apprenticeship with you. We manage apprentice performance and provide mentoring and pastoral support to ensure the placement is successful.
SWAC Apprenticeships are a hassle free, flexible and cost effective way to ensure the skills of future employees without directly employing staff until they are trained
